From garyshank@comcast.net Mon Jun 18 10:35:24 2007 Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2007 10:41:12 -0400 From: Gary Shank To: obflb@baseball.sportsline.com Cc: lineups@teresco.org, garyshank@comcast.net, shank@duq.edu, millerp@duq.edu, mcelligott@duq.edu Subject: Bittersweet playoff lineup Here is the lineup for the Malones, whom the server says is in first place and therefore is in the playoffs. However, when you run the adjusted stats, I will end up losing RP and so this puts Matt and the Kranks into the playoffs instead. Actually, this is really fair since Matt beat me head to head both times we played. Good luck Matt -- you are one of the really good guys here. And there is a bit of really cool irony as well. Turns out that Scott Rolen got re-iinserted into 3B for the Redwoods, and it was his 4 runs and 4 RBI that did me in. When I was a young prof, I lived in Jasper IN and coached little league against little Scott and his team. Looks like the brat got one more piece of revenge against me :-) I have one more rant. This is the second week in a row that an owner I am playing against did not adjust the online server to reflect his actual lineup. Last week, Barry Kornstein of the Valley Dudes left Ryan Freel in the online server setup, even though Freel has been on the DL since May 28 and by all reports will stay there until after the All Star Game. When Bob manually made the change for Willie Harris, it cost me BA and a category I thought I had going into the last week of the year in a close playoff race. This week, Christopher Dietz does the same thing with the Redwoods, keeping Lyle Overbay in the server lineup under the same circumstances. As a result, the actual stats do not get resolved until, in last weeks case, Saturday morning. Ok, Barry and Chris, what you did I suppose is legal within the rules. Also, I guess you could make the case that you thought they might come off the DL that week (although in those cases you both knew it wasnt gonna happen). But you do know the list owners have been more than willing to make an adjustment mid-week if someone does come off the DL and becomes available. And putting the lineup in the server that best reflects what is actually going on in the field is much more courteous, in my book. Two weeks in a row, I think my team is going to the playoffs, and two weeks in a row the stats get adjusted back in situations where the owners could have easily adjusted things to reflect what was really going on. Yeah, its just a game and I am okay with that, but good manners are good manners.... gary Hubbell Malones Week 12 2007A C:Ivan Rodriguez (Det AL) C:Ronny Paulino (Pit NL) 1B:Scott Thorman (Atl NL) 1B:Craig Wilson (Atl NL) Minors 1B:Brad Eldred (Pit NL) Minors 1B:Darin Erstad (ChX AL) DL 2B:Craig Biggio (Hou NL) 2B:Marco Scutaro (Oak AL) 3B:Mike Lowell (Bos AL) 3B:Jose Bautista (Pit NL) 3B:Marco Scutaro (Oak AL) SS:Hanley Ramirez (Flo NL) SS:Ben Zobrist (Tam AL) Minors SS:Marco Scutaro (Oak AL) OF:Vernon Wells (Tor AL) OF:Felix Pie (ChC NL) OF:Ryan Church (Was NL) OF:Darin Erstad (ChX AL) DL OF:Jose Bautista (Pit NL) OF:Brad Eldred (Pit NL) Minors OF:Craig Wilson (Atl NL) Minors OF:Scott Thorman (Atl NL) DH:Jose Bautista (Pit NL) DH:Ronny Paulino (Pit NL) DH:Brad Eldred (Pit NL) Minors DH:Craig Wilson (Atl NL) DH:Felix Pie (ChC NL) Minors DH:Ben Zobrist (Tam AL) Minors DH:Marco Scutaro (Oak AL) SP:Mark Buehrle (ChX AL) SP:Jon Garland (ChX AL) SP:Robinson Tejeda (Tex AL) SP:Gustavo Chacin (Tor AL) DL SP:Matt Chico (Was NL) SP:Paul Maholm (Pit NL) RP:Matt Capps (Pit NL) RP:Salomon Torres (Pit NL) DL RP:Mike Gonzalez (Atl NL) DL RP:Cla Meredith (SdP NL)
