Then we finally heard from Kris, with the following note: From: BITNET%"KMUNN@SBCCVM.BITNET" "Kristofer" 21-MAY-1991 19:54:46.76 Subj: Bad News Sender: Bitnet Baseball League and Sports Discussion Ok, fine, so I'm a wimp. I have been avoiding the horrible task of logging on and, well, doing what I have to do. We'll start at the beginning. I fell behind, way behind, because of the irrational demands of my professors and the fact that I got a brand new job programming the Mainframe of a local school district, a Mainframe that is not hooked up to Bitnet nor Internet. My time online thus constricted I became unable to do any work online. Then I started an Electonic Bulletin Board System at my house, which took care of my only modem so now I couldn't call from home either. The number is 516-581-6715 for any of you who are interested in calling. Anyway, that about cut me off from you guys. However, there are also two or three personal projects I wish to finish over the summer as well. All these things add up to bad news for the BBL. I can no longer function as Commissioner, the load is too heavy. I apologize for the last few days, finals ended last friday and I've been doing my best to avoid logging on. I apologize for having to shut it down and anybody who wants to take up the banner and continue will have my full backing for as long as I am around. I have about 622 messages in my reader, staring guiltily at me. I will be deleting all discussion mail and only reading the personal mail of the 620 that are there now. I will try to log on at least once every two days. Thanks to all of you for making the past couple of years delightful and I hope someone else continues this and that you all remain members of the Sports discussion which will *not* disappear. Talk to you all soon... They all had their backs to the scene, their eyes scanning the crowd, their faces stamped into the same serious expression while each with various degrees of emphasis thought: Please, God, not while I'm on duty. -Patriot_Games ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
